May Baily's Place
About This Spot
Stepping into May Baily’s Place, you’re gently pulled away from the vibrant buzz of New Orleans’ famed Bourbon Street into a thoughtfully reimagined corner bar that feels both intimate and intriguing. The pace here is unhurried, inviting quiet moments of conversation while also welcoming the occasional swell of city energy that drifts through its warmly lit, vintage-inspired walls.
This tucked-away spot carries a timeless charm, where each drink seems to hold a little story—whether it’s a flawlessly crafted Sazerac, a whimsically named Bitter Woman, or a creamy, tropical Chata Colada. The bartenders here don’t just mix cocktails; they curate experiences, balancing flavors with care while sharing local lore or quiet recommendations for your New Orleans adventure.
There’s a subtle sense of mystery that lingers, as if the place itself remembers the ebb and flow of countless nights before. The atmosphere feels like an invitation to slow down, to savor the art of the cocktail, and to connect—whether with old friends, new acquaintances, or simply the whispers of the city just beyond the door. Underneath the polished details and warm smiles, May Baily’s Place quietly earns its reputation as a hidden gem for those who appreciate a drink with depth and a space with soul.

We saw this place on Buzzfeed Unsolved and had to check it out while we were on our honeymoon. Can confirm- haunted. Also, great atmosphere and drinks! Quieter and just a hop skip away from Bourbon

Had our first trip to NOLA just before Halloween and stayed at the Dauphine. Our room was right above May Baily's, so we spent a few evenings at the bar enjoying a few drinks. Kate was super friendly and attentive to us, as well as the other patrons. There were times it was very quiet, and then all of a sudden the place was full and hopping with activity. We really enjoyed stopping in for a drink before heading out for the evening or heading up to our haunted room for the night.

A hidden gem! Beautiful remodel that takes you back in time. Kate makes the best Sazerac I had in New Orleans, and she had lots of great advice about the rest of the city. I came for a cocktail and was so impressed I stayed for three!

Almost passed this place, so glad we doubled back! Kate provided an amazing experience! We learned the history, and her drinks were balanced! She gave us guidance on things to check out!

Great music. Fun cocktails. Jennifer is awesome behind the bar. Look for Dave Hammer & Hank West duo. They are outstanding.

Jennifer and kate the bartenders there are all-star bartenders. This place is amazing and one of my favorite low key spots to show off
